Black Queens goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan Findib has been named among the top contenders for the Goalkeeper of the Year award ahead of the 2025 CAF Awards.
The 22-year-old was included in the prestigious ten-woman shortlist following her remarkable performances at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.
Her exceptional goalkeeping played a pivotal roll in securing Ghana’s bronze medal in the tournament.
Konlan earned widespread acclaim for her heroic penalty saves during the third-place playoff against South Africa, a performance that galvanized the Black Queens and helped them clinch the bronze medal.
Now playing for Al Hilal Women’s club, she has quickly established herself as one of the continent’s most reliable shot-stoppers. Her impact between the posts continues to draw significant attention from football enthusiasts and analysts.
She will compete for the award against notable challengers such as Nigeria and Brighton’s Chiamaka Nnadozie, South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, Algeria and Marseille’s Chloe N’gazi, Egypt’s Habiba Emad, and DR Congo’s Fedeline Ngoy.

Other goalkeepers on the shortlist include Botswana’s Sedilame Boseja, Mali’s Fatoumata Karentao, Morocco’s Khadija Er-Amichi, and Senegal’s Adji Ndiaye, making the competition diverse and highly competitive.
CAF is expected to announce the final shortlist and the date for the awards gala in the coming days, igniting anticipation among fans and nominees.
Cynthia Konlan is hopeful that her impressive displays and contributions will secure her a spot in the final running for this prestigious individual award.
In preparation for upcoming engagements, Konlan will join her teammates in Ghana next week as they prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
Black Queens’ head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, team official Stella Nyamekye, and captain Portia Boakye have also received nominations for various CAF awards, highlighting the team’s growing prominence in African women’s football.
