Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has congratulated the national U15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, for successfully defending their title at the CAF African Schools Football Championship.

In a statement issued on April 11, 2026, and shared on his social media platforms, he said: “I warmly congratulate our U15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, for once again making Ghana proud by retaining the CAF African Schools Football Championship title.”

He described the achievement as a reflection of deliberate planning and strong investment in grassroots football, in line with the sports development vision under President John Dramani Mahama.

The minister noted that the victory highlights the depth of football talent across the country and underscored the need to strengthen structures to support and develop young players to the highest level.

He also commended the Ghana Football Association for its continued focus on grassroots football, stating that the team’s success demonstrates the value of investing in the foundations of the game.

Mr Iddie Adams further praised the players for their discipline and resilience, noting that they have not only made the nation proud but have also become role models for young girls across Ghana. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable sports development system.

The Black Damsels’ back-to-back triumph at the continental competition highlights Ghana’s growing strength in youth football and the impact of sustained grassroots investment.
