Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang has revealed that, with hindsight, there are some roles he wishes he had not accepted during the early stages of his acting career.
He explained that at the beginning of his career, he sometimes prioritised work opportunities over the nature or impact of the characters he portrayed.
According to him, although those roles contributed to his experience and visibility at the time, he now realises that some performances may have shaped public perception in ways he did not intend.
The actor, widely known for his role as “Pusher” in the Things We Do For Love, said the industry has evolved, and so has his approach to selecting scripts.
Speaking about his journey in Ghana’s film and television industry during an interview on Onua FM, Anang said his reflections are intended to guide younger actors navigating career choices in a competitive and fast-changing creative industry.
He advised aspiring actors to be deliberate about the stories they choose to tell and to consider how their work aligns with their personal values and long-term professional growth.
The actor also noted that discussions around responsible storytelling, cultural representation and ethical content have become more prominent in recent years.
Adjetey Anang said this has influenced how both established and emerging actors evaluate scripts and collaborate with producers.
Despite his reflections, Adjetey Anang reaffirmed his commitment to contributing positively to the industry through mentoring and selective involvement in projects. He said he now focuses on roles that challenge him artistically and contribute meaningfully to Ghanaian storytelling.
The actor continues to feature in films, television and theatre productions, while also advocating arts education and youth development.
He concluded that although he does not regret the learning process, he hopes his experiences will serve as lessons for others entering the profession.
