The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh, is to launch investigation into how State lands belonging to the Animal Research Institute of CSIR was encroached upon.

More than 6,000 out of the 7,000 acre land at Katamanso, near Adenta Commando, have been taken over by private individuals without authority.

On a surprise visit to the area, the Minister was thrown into a state of shock when directly opposite the Animal Research Institute, lands had been graded by excavators and ready to be developed by unknown persons while officials looked on unconcerned.

The Minister who tried to find answers from the Director of the Institute was further infuriated, when the Director claimed the Minister did not give them prior notice before coming and therefore was not ready to engage him.

Briefing the media after a closed-door meeting, Mr. Asomah Cheremeh said government is seriously going to launch an investigation into the matter and if officials of the Institute are found to be accomplices in the sale of the State lands, the law will be applied.
