The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Ms. Laura Ranalli, has hosted the 10th edition of the “Flavours of Italy” in Accra, as part of the global celebration of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.
The annual event showcased a rich assortment of authentic Italian dishes, wines, and specialty food products, highlighting Italy’s deep culinary heritage.
In her welcome address, Ambassador Ranalli celebrated a decade of the international culinary initiative, which promotes Italian gastronomy, cultural identity, and innovation. This year’s theme, “Italian Cuisine: Health, Culture and Innovation,” reflects the pillars on which Italian culinary excellence is built.

She noted that Italian cuisine is renowned worldwide for its unique flavours, while the Mediterranean diet — recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage — remains one of the healthiest in the world.
The Ambassador emphasized that Italian food and wine mirror the country’s diverse environment, artistic heritage, lifestyle, creativity, technology, and centuries-old traditions. She added that sharing a table is a universal gesture that brings people and cultures together — a value the event seeks to uphold.

The night drew high-profile guests, including ambassadors, the minister of Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene; the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey; food bloggers; influencers; business executives; and members of the diplomatic community.
The Italian Trade Commissioner for West Africa, Mr. Luigin Puca, also highlighted the growing appreciation of Italian food products across the sub-region.
Ghana’s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, delivered remarks commending Italy for its longstanding support in strengthening technical and vocational education in Ghana.
He expressed gratitude for the €5 million grant provided towards Ghana’s TVET reforms and encouraged Italian investors to take advantage of Ghana’s investor-friendly environment. He reaffirmed that deepening the Ghana–Italy partnership remains critical for skill development, manufacturing, and job creation.

Guests were treated to an impressive display of Italian cuisine, including pizza, pasta, pastries, gelato, and a variety of wines and savoury dishes. Food vendors showcased premium Italian products, while Italian music and cultural presentations created a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and exchange.

The 10th edition of ‘Flavours of Italy’ concluded with a call to further strengthen cultural collaboration and appreciation between Ghana and Italy. The evening was marked by colour, flavour, and meaningful connections — a true taste of Italy in Accra.
