Ghana’s Black Stars have started their camp in Wales ahead of the June 2 international friendly, with nine players, including captain Jordan Ayew, goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Gideon Mensah, Jerome Opoku, Marvin Senaya and Alidu Seidu, already reporting to camp in Cardiff.
Videos of the early arrivals circulated on social media, showing the core of the squad coming together as most European leagues wind down.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has not yet confirmed the final squad list for the Wales friendly or the 2026 World Cup, but GFA president Kurt Okraku has said the official 26‑man squad will be unveiled on June 1.
The friendly on June 2 in Cardiff will be a key test for the new regime, giving Queiroz a platform to evaluate combinations, fitness, and attitude before the World Cup starts in North America.
The Black Stars are operating under fresh leadership after a poor run of results led to the departure of former coach Otto Addo; Queiroz was appointed only months before the tournament, charged with rebuilding confidence and momentum.
The Portuguese coach has stressed that only “deserving players” will make the final squad, creating intense competition for places in Group L, where Ghana face England, Croatia and Panama and aim to reach the knockout stage for the first time since the 2010 quarter‑final run.
