UPDATE: NPP elects executives for six new regions

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are voting to elect Regional Executives for the six new regions.

Our correspondents there bring us updates on the election.

DAMBAI ELECTIONS

Alfred Hughes reports from Dambai, the capital of the OTI Region, that the large crowd of NPP supporters and dignitaries who thronged the Dambai College of Education, where voting is taking place are optimistic of a successful process, despite the late start of the event.

AHAFO ELECTIONS

Correspondent John Sam-Arthur reports that the Ahafo election is taking place at Goaso, the Regional Capital, while that of Bono East is at Jema in the Kintampo South District.

Positions up for grabs include Regional Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Regional Secretary , Regional Organiser, Women’s Organiser and Youth Organizer.

In the Bono East Region, apart from the Chairman Thomas Adu Appiah, who is going unopposed, all other positions are up for grabs. In Ahafo all the positions are being contested.

Delegates are Members of the Regional Executive Committees in the Regions, Members of the Constituency Executive Committees, Regional Representatives of the National Council from the Region, TESCON Members as well as all Founding Members from the Region.

In Bono East, 203 delegates are expected to vote while 33 candidates are contesting the Regional Executive positions.

As at the time of filing this report, the delegates conference was yet to get underway with delegates still arriving.
