The Ministry of Roads and Highways has revealed that work on major road projects under the government’s “Big Push” programme in the Upper West and Upper East Regions is progressing steadily.
Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, made the remarks after inspecting several ongoing projects in the two regions.
He expressed general satisfaction with the pace of work but urged contractors who are behind schedule to speedup in order to meet agreed timelines.
The projects inspected include the upgrading of the Tumu–Han–Lawra Road, Tumu–Sissili–Navrongo Road, and the Tumu–Chuchuliga–Navrongo Road.
The Minister also visited sites where partial reconstruction works are ongoing on the Navrongo–Chuchuliga–Sandema Road, as well as the construction of bridges over the Kanyibie and Bechelihu rivers.
According to the Ministry, the projects form part of efforts to improve road connectivity, facilitate trade, and enhance economic activities in the northern part of the country.
The inspection exercise is expected to help ensure that contractors deliver quality work within schedule.
