Antoine Semenyo proved decisive for Manchester City as his lone strike guided the club to victory over Chelsea in the 2025/26 FA Cup final. The Black Stars forward delivered when it mattered most, helping the Citizens lift another major trophy at Wembley Stadium.
Semenyo, who arrived at Manchester City during the January transfer window, started the final and played the entire game as Pep Guardiola’s side edged Chelsea 1-0 in a tense and competitive encounter on Saturday afternoon. Both sides created chances but struggled to find the breakthrough in the opening half.
The first 45 minutes ended without a goal, with Chelsea and Manchester City battling intensely in midfield while both defenses remained solid. Despite the high tempo of the contest, neither side managed to convert their opportunities before the break.
The decisive moment eventually arrived in the 72nd minute when Semenyo stepped up to fire home the winning goal. The former Bournemouth attacker kept his composure inside the box and scored the goal that secured the FA Cup crown for Manchester City.
Since making his move to the Etihad Stadium earlier this year, the 25-year-old has enjoyed remarkable success, winning both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles. His impressive performances this season, which began with an outstanding spell at Bournemouth, have also earned him a nomination on the Premier League Player of the Season shortlist.
