The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Cabinet has approved a new electronic visa (e-Visa) policy to make it easier for foreigners to travel to Ghana.

The Minister in a Facebook post on Saturday April 25, 2026, revealed that the new e-Visa system will cover people visiting Ghana for business and tourism. He explained that the policy is part of efforts to make the country more welcoming and accessible to international visitors and investors.

Mr. Ablakwa said Ghana is positioning itself as a destination where people can invest and also enjoy its natural beauty. He added that the initiative reflects government’s commitment to improving the travel experience through the use of modern technology.

The Minister referred to remarks made by President John Dramani Mahama during his inauguration, where he declared that Ghana is open for business again.

He noted that the e-Visa policy will help strengthen Ghana’s image as one of the most peaceful, friendly, and stable countries in Africa. He also assured that while the system will make travel faster and more convenient, it will still maintain strong security checks.

Mr. Ablakwa emphasized that the policy forms part of broader efforts to reset and modernize the country, ensuring that every sector reflects efficiency and innovation.
