The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested multiple suspected drug traffickers after carrying out anti-drug operations in parts of the Greater Accra and Oti regions over the weekend.

In a Facebook post shared on Monday, May 18, NACOC stated that the intelligence-driven exercise was part of its intensified nationwide efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and substance abuse.

The Commission explained that the operation focused on identified drug hotspots in areas such as Kisseiman, Dome, and Kwabenya within the Greater Accra Region.

NACOC said its officers recovered suspected narcotic substances and other items during the operation.

The Commission also disclosed that a separate large-scale raid was carried out at Alavanyo in the Oti Region, leading to the arrest of more suspects and the seizure of additional suspected drugs.

According to NACOC, the operations form part of ongoing efforts to uncover and dismantle criminal syndicates involved in the illegal drug trade, especially in densely populated urban areas.

“All suspects arrested during the raids are currently assisting with investigations pending prosecution,” the statement added.

NACOC reiterated its determination to tackle the increasing threat of drug-related activities in the country, cautioning those engaged in the illegal drug trade to desist or risk facing the full force of the law.

The Commission further assured the public of its unwavering commitment to intensifying efforts to expose and dismantle criminal networks connected to illicit drug trafficking nationwide.
