Government has revoked the mining leases of Adamus Resources Limited covering the Akango, Salman and Nkroful concessions over alleged illegal operations.
According to a release issued on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, took the decision following investigations by the Minerals Commission which found violations of Ghana’s mining laws.
The report indicated that the company engaged in unauthorised mining activities, including subcontracting operations without ministerial approval, operating without approved mining plans, and failing to secure required environmental permits.
It further alleged that Adamus allowed foreign nationals to undertake illegal mining activities and operated outside designated concession areas, resulting in environmental damage and risks to water bodies and local livelihoods.
The Minister, acting on recommendations from the Minerals Commission, described the violations as severe and said the revocation was in the public interest as part of efforts to curb illegal mining.

However, Adamus Resources Limited has rejected the allegations and the reported revocation.
In a press statement, the company said the claims do not reflect the true facts surrounding its operations and insisted that it remains a duly licensed mining entity operating under valid permits issued within Ghana’s regulatory framework, including approvals from the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The company also raised concerns about due process, stating that it was not formally notified of any allegations and was not given the opportunity to respond as required under Ghana’s mining laws.
Adamus denied any involvement in illegal mining or unlawful subcontracting and reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining, environmental protection and compliance with applicable regulations.
It said it is engaging relevant authorities to clarify the situation and expressed confidence that a full and fair review would establish its compliance with the law.
The company added that it will take all necessary steps to protect its legal rights while continuing to engage stakeholders.
